cheap thrills...

...and deals! I'm all about 'em.

But first, let me just toot my own little horn and say that I'm only 17 comments away from Iron Commenter. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get it done! (Granted, I'm getting very little else done...including getting my house ready and packing for a weeklong trip!) But I have found some great blogs...amazing, inspiring, funny, hopeful, sad. Just really great women (and a few men) that I am excited to read along with. And I have also enjoyed a lot of great comments and conversations, so thank you all to have stopped by and subscribed!

Now, for the next tip! Frugalista Tip #2: Never Pay Pull Price! I do try to live by this, but sometimes there just have to be exceptions. (Coach, I'm talkin' to you!) For the most part, though, this is just a really good rule. There's nothing worse (shopping-wise) than buying a fabulous new item only to see two days later that it's on sale! That's why this goes so nicely with Tip #1, because if you Shop Often, you will Never Pay Full Price!

Here's my most recent supersale. When I got word that Old Navy was having 50% off of their lowest clearance prices, I told J that he was going with me and there would be NO whining! We got there and found some absolutely fabulous deals!!

Check out that pricetag! Even better when you consider that it was an additional 50% off! (Those little red stickers with even littler prices make my heart do pitter pattery flip flops!)

And here are a few of my fabulous finds...

I'm a big fan of dresses. I could live in them all summer. Also a big fan of belts and shoes...and accessories in general! These dresses were all between $1.50 and $3.50. We ended up getting J some jeans, khakis, 2 or 3 sweaters, a pair of gym pants, a few other random t-shirts, a wool coat, myself all that is seen here plus another cardigan (because, hello, I love them!), and little polos for a friend who is adopting from Ethiopia. We spent $85. I think we got 18 items. SO much stuff for less than $100 and much more rewarding knowing we didn't pay full price for any of it!

Happy Sunday, all! Any exciting plans for the week?

Me?-Here's my week in bullets:
  • I'm hoping to have AF show up. Dr. Miracles said he likes it to happen around 6 weeks after the D&C and this coming Thursday will be 6 weeks. I'm so anxious for her to show and to get started again.
  • I leave for Florida on Tuesday. I'll be working during the week and then J and his mom are meeting me and we're going to spend a nice SUNNY weekend near the water with his grandpa. We haven't been seeing much sunshine here in good 'ole Indiana, so I'm pretty excited.
  • My goal is to work out at least 4 nights this week. And to eat well. I've got to get back on the low amylose bandwagon.

  3. I LOVE getting good deals!!!! :)

Yep, waiting on AF here too. Ugh. When TTC, I hate to say, but, I wish AF came like every two weeks or something so you would know things faster. LOL.

Hoping that 2010 is our year!

  4. I love the Old Navy 50% off sale. I went last weekend, spent $29.00 and got a very nice fancy winter coat, Pj pants and shirt, work-out tank top and sweet sweater. I love it!

  5. I love a good sale - I never ever pay full price for anything (now if only I can figure out a way to apply that to IVF and/or adoption!)

I hope you enjoy sunny Florida. Sounds like a great week is ahead for you.

  6. Girl, you are my shopping hero! I was just telling my husband about all your great shopping tips today. I went into Ann Taylor LOFT today because I desperately needed some new dress pants for work and while I was there I found a really cute top and a skirt that I HAVE TO HAVE!!! BUT, I remembered your tip and I have decided to stalk these two items and wait until there's a sale or I find a coupon. :-)

Oh, getting a good deal makes my heart go pitter-patter. I honestly can't enjoy shopping unless it's on sale. And I mean a real sale - not those 30% off deals.

Enjoy your trip, and please take care of your health.

  10. Love, love, love the deals. I am a recent convert to J.C.Pen.ny. Their sales are rediculous! Crazy, crazy cheap. I am a stalker of the end-caps at Target, too. There's nothing better than a sweet deal.

Thanks for visiting my blog! I'll be lurking and reading your story. Sounds like big things are in store for you in 2010!!

  11. Very impressive shopping trip. You definitely know what you are doing when it comes to saving $$$ - it makes you wonder how much profit they make on these things if they can mark them down that much?? Nice to find your blog, look forward to reading more. Happy ICLW!

  12. Wow, iron commentor! Amazing and congrats!

As for the deals, wow! Nice shopping!

  13. Have you visited a Coach outlet? Back in the day, they used to send out coupons that were 20% off $200, 30% off $350, and 40% off $500, only good at the outlet. And that is the only reason why I own several Coach bags, wallets, briefcases, scarves, etc.

I think they quit the coupon, but even for very nice Coach bags, you don't need to pay full price!

  17. Love the deals! You'd really love being in China - negotiate for everything here - bananas, jewelry, purses!

I'm now away from the Indiana winter gloom; glad you're able to head South.

  18. I am such a never pay full retail price ever girl. Old Navy had an amazing after Christmas sale while I was in the US and I cleaned house girl! I miss those little red clearance tags so. Happy ICLW, a new frugalista follower here indeed.

  19. I'm a lot like my dad... I'll buy a few of something just because it's a good deal! I'm usually more excited about the money I save than the actual item!

I'll be hoping for you that AF will show up soon. I had her arrive two weeks after my D&C, which confused the hell out of me...

  27. awesome deals. I too love finding a good deal, though have to say there aren't very many sales in NYC!! Not a good city for a frugalista.

Wishing you all the best in 2010 and happy ICLW.
