travelin'

Somebody's being a horrible ICLWer this week. DANG it! I'm so mad because this is my favorite week of the month in the blogoverse. I am traveling on business right now, but will fly home tomorrow and will work from home on Friday. I'm hoping to catch up then. I've still be leaving my comments, but I haven't been really delving into the blogs like I like to do. There's still the weekend, but I feel really out of the loop. :(

I've mentioned before how much I love my job. I love the travel and it's really rewarding. But travel isn't all rainbows and lollipops all the time. It's tiring, I'm away from J and the dogs, I often switch hotels nightly because I'm in a new city each night, I have to be "on" all day long...did I mention it's tiring?! I usually check out of my hotel room around 8:00 and am in meetings or driving throughout the day, then I check into my hotel usually after dinner, sometimes as late as 10:00. It makes for a long day.

Buuuuttttt...I love it! Can I tell you why? Just take a peek at this comfy little corner of paradise! Sometimes I don't have a dinner or cocktail meeting and I get in at a decent hour. Tonight was one of those nights and I got into my hotel room at about 7, but only after stopping off at a cute little bakery to grab myself a treat. I could have been in at 6. But I got settled, ordered some room service and snuggled up in this comfy little spot for some reading and relaxation. At home, I read in bed. But in a hotel room, you don't have to worry about taking the dogs out, getting dinner, doing dishes, folding laundry. Plus, I love the way hotels are decorated, it makes me inspired!

You know why else I love the travel? Because of great little spots that I find. See these beauties? I saw a little cupcake shop while driving and stopped of for a treat. I couldn't choose between the two so I got both...but only ate 1/4 of each, I swear! I love finding little fun shops and always pull up the Food Network site to see if there are any great places they have been.

I also pull up my favorite, LOFT stores, whenever I'm traveling just to see if they have anything fun. And today, I got to stop into IKEA between meetings. Kind of fun despite the fact that I couldn't buy anything that wouldn't fit into my suitcase. Tomorrow, before I fly out, I'll have a few hours to hit a couple shops and I'm looking forward to wearing flats!

Finally, take a look at this! Can you tell what you're seeing? Look closely. It's a TV within the freaking mirror. Isn't that the weirdest thing you've ever seen! Are we really a nation that can't poo without the distraction of the TV? Really? Sorry, I just can't get behind it. It creeps me out. Plus it makes me think that there's somehow something in the mirror that's watching me back. Creepy. Let's keep the TVs out of the hotel bathrooms.

I think that's all I've got for now. I promise to get back on the ICLW wagon this weekend!!

  4. What do you do for living that you get to travel so much? I miss staying in nice hotels. There's always clean sheets, clean towels, clean bathrooms and no cleaning on my part! And who doesn't love room service? Yeah, TV in the mirror is too creepy!

  9. I love the green chair! Cupcakes look yummy (I don't know if I could only eat a 1/4 of each!) And the T.V. in the mirror is a new one for me. I've never seen that before. I thought it was a reflection or something.

what exactly do you do that you travel so much? Hope you get to make it home safely.

  13. Is that a Hyatt? I traveled full-time for work for 3 1/2 years so I hear where you're comin' from. I got burnt out on it big time, but there were upsides as well. Sounds like you go out of your way to make an adventure of it!

  14. I love mirror TV's - I keep telling hubby that when we build our house I want one in the bathroom that I can see while having a bath.

I used to hate traveling for work but that was in Europe and I hated it more for the hassle of flying every day, it must be so nice to enjoy it!
